4 sections

The Plum-headed Finch, also known as the Cherry Finch, is a small finch native to eastern Australia. Males are named for the maroon patch on their head. These birds are often seen in pairs or small groups, moving through grasslands and open woodlands, especially in areas with tall grasses near water. They are nomadic, appearing in some areas in large numbers and absent in others, depending on food and water availability.
