The European Goldfinch (*Carduelis carduelis*) is a small, colourful finch native to Europe, North Africa, and western and central Asia. It is now found in many parts of the world, including Australia and New Zealand, where it was introduced in the late 19th century. This bird is about the size of a Red-browed Finch and is known for its energetic movements and melodic, tinkling calls.
