The Orange-footed Megapode (*Megapodius reinwardt*), also known as the Orange-footed Scrubfowl, is a large, ground-dwelling bird about the size of a domestic chicken, instantly recognised by its strong orange legs and feet and its pointed crest. It is native to northern Australia, southern New Guinea, and many islands of the Lesser Sundas, thriving in rainforests, woodlands, and even suburban gardens-particularly around Darwin, where it is affectionately known as the "bush chook" or "bush turkey.
